The Firebird Follies

The Randy Dandies in association with The Firebird, St. Louis’ Rock Music Venue, are creating an all new review style show featuring your favorite St. Louis Burlesque Stars along with new and upcoming performers. Each show will feature a special headliner with a fun theme! The Firebird Follies will begin at 10pm with the doors at 9pm on special Friday nights at the Firebird. Tickets will be $10 and can be purchased in advanced at the Firebird website (www.firebirdstl.com).

For our first Firebird Folly Show, the Randy Dandies choose a special fairy tale theme complete with naughty princesses, illegal amounts of pixie dust, humping animals, and more, ruining your favorite childhood movies one naked girl at a time! Holy Pasties, Batman!

Crime is rampant, villainy abounds, the social order is crumbling — this city needs heroes. Yes, police and teachers are “heroes,” but the populace needs something more…dramatic. Superheroes. Men and women ready to enter a shadowed alcove and strip off their street clothes to reveal the brightly colored outfits of the caped crime fighter — and then strip off those outfits to reveal svelte, toned physiques adorned with naught but pasties and G-strings. That’s right: In our hour of greatest need, the Randy Dandies transform into the Uncanny Dandies to perform The Comic Strip burlesque phantasmagoria. Mimi Le Yu, Roxy Red Rockets and the rest of the gang lead the never-ending battle against crime, boredom and those “no shirt, no shoes, no service” signs with a night of burlesque delights and sketch comedy!

Holy banana hammocks, Batman…I’m teaching a boylesque class!

Not to toot my own horn, BUT, the Randy Dandies had the first two men in this city who locally performed burlesque, Swifty Deeds and past cast member Jiggle McGee. These guys were fantastic because both of these men were actors so they were naturals. They had great comedic timing, fun ideas, good costumes, and even better song choices. Ray Gunn moved to the Lou for a bit giving us one more fella, but he has since moved back to Chicago. Swifty is off at school, and Jiggles still performs once in a while, but I believe his focus is on acting professionally.

Where’d all the men go? Sure we have plenty of men in this community who do all sorts of stuff…comedy, fire, acrobatics, side-show, etc….but NO BOYLESQUE! I miss the hunka hunka burly man-meat action. I miss the manties. I NEED MORE MANTIES!

I will have the MANTIES, DAMN IT! Even if I have to build the men to fill the manties myself! Let’s get this bro-lesque party started!

Armed with my array of man thongs, cheesy bro-mance team building exercises, and Jock Jams greatest hits, I am setting out on a dong-a-licious adventure! And with any luck, I will have a huge turn out of tight ends for my first boylesque class!

A Dandy Burlesque Bingo

Join us for a night of retro drinks, dancing girls, and bingo that would make your grandmother blush!

As anyone who frequents the bingo parlors knows, the facade of genteel decorum drops once the first game is won. The first cry of “Bingo!” fires up the blood something fierce, and all bets are off from that point forward. Now, imagine what would happen if you throw semi-clad young women into the mix — O…K, now stop imagining. The Randy Dandies present Burlesque Bingo from 9pm to 11:30 pm…. at the Fountain on Locust, and it promises all the thrills of cutthroat bingo, with the added titillation of local burlesque performers and specialty acts plus silly prizes — all this for $5 at the door cash and a $10 bar tab. The Fountain on Locust will be mixing up retro cocktail specials starting at 8 p.m.

So come out for Broads, Booze, and Bingo as the Randy Dandies present Burlesque Bingo at the Fountain on Locust every first Thursday of the month. Be the BINGO BITCH!!!

The Website is Back!

It’s techno time for this low-tech cowgirl to rebuild the Dandy website. But Mimi, you ask “you guys have a website”?!? Sure, the Dandies have had a “website” in the past two years with an array of looks, colors and designs, but nothing that has quite said “Hey there sexy…how about you browse my web?”.

Don’t get me wrong, we tried everything from campy, vampy…even trampy, yet somehow, our website hole could not be filled. Sometimes you need only your own hands and creative juices to fulfill your website desires.

So, utilizing my less-than-average skills, the lessons from my WordPress guru, Mr. Craig Mayhem, and the pure energy derived from homemade pizza with a side of greens, I am setting off on a journey to build a website utopia where links always work while videos play tempting promo material, where our amazing fans can get the scoop about our upcoming shows, and where you can get to know all your favorite dandies, both intimately and inappropriately. But wait there’s more….actually there’s not more. That’s about it. yeah….

Anyhoo, hope you enjoy and if you don’t, well, you can laugh at my failed attempt at website grandeur. I’ll be laughing (but more than likely cursing) right there with you.

Christmas gets people all dewy-eyed about family gatherings, togetherness and the “true meaning of Christmas.”

If television has taught us anything (everything, really), the true meaning of Christmas is opening presents. And the only thing better than lots of presents is getting to unwrap ‘em early — and the Randy Dandies XXXMas is nothing but the unwrapping of goodies.

This bawdy version of a Christmas special features all your favorite Dandies — Mimi Le Yu, Roxy Red Rockets, Little Bo Peepshow — showing you what’s under the tree, with help from friends Gravity Plays Favorites, Fiona Flame and Chicago’s Jeez Louez.

There’s just a little bit of nice to go along with all the naughty, however; the show is a benefit for Food Outreach. The action starts at 9 p.m. at the Firebird (2706 Olive Street; www.firebirdstl.com), and tickets are $15, but drop to $10 if you donate five canned goods.

Somewhere out there in the vast wetness of the ocean is the S.S. Sexiness. Nestled deep in the shapely wreckage is the fantastic Pink Pearl; many a man has struggled to reach it, but you know what they say about a man’s best efforts — if you want it done right, send a woman. And so once more into the breach step the Randy Dandies, as they embark on The Search for the Siren’s Pearl, their latest choose your own burlesque adventure. All your favorite Dandies make the voyage, including Greta Garter, Mimi Leyu, Roxy Red Rockets, Little Bo Peepshow and Tally Whacker, but chances are most of their clothes will be lost in transit. That’s ok; everyone knows the best way to find a pearl is by skin diving. Your island adventure begins at 9 p.m. at 2720 Cherokee Street (www.2720cherokee.com).
